Trip.com is an international travel marketplace (NASDAQ: TCOM) headquartered in Singapore, founded in 2003 as Ctrip in Shanghai and rebranded internationally in 2017. Alongside hotels, flights and activities, Trip.com also sells eSIMs for around 49 countries and regions — from China and Japan via Europe to the USA, Latin America and global 66- and 77-country bundles. The eSIM offering is positioned as a travel add-on. Each country listing carries a large number of tariff variations (typically 100+ packages per country, combining different data volumes with different durations). Particularly in Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand), Trip.com is among the cheapest providers on the market. Important to know: many of the cheap plans are daily-capped (e.g. 0.5 GB per day) — the headline data figure is spread across days, not available as a single bucket. Cons
- Pure data SIM — no own phone number for SMS or calls (relevant for SMS-based registrations)
- Routing via third countries (e.g. Hong Kong) can increase ping — slightly noticeable in gaming or video calls
- Support is a large general call-centre, less specialised than dedicated eSIM providers when technical issues arise
- Underlying carrier varies by package — quality should be checked in the plan description before purchase
