We have over 600 eSIM plans in our database — perfect for comparing, but also confusing when picking. The finder makes it easier: three questions, one concrete recommendation with price and a direct link to the right plan.

For more complex trips — these tools help further
The wizard is optimised for the standard trip: one country, one duration, one usage type. For the following special cases we recommend other tools:
How other travellers use the finder
To give you a better idea of what comes out at the end: three typical travel profiles, each run once through the wizard, with an honest assessment of the recommendation.
Example 1: Backpacker, 4 weeks Southeast Asia tour
Inputs: Thailand · 30 days · heavy user (streaming, maps, social media). Recommendation: 20 GB for 30 days, price range about €18–28. Our reasoning: 4 weeks at 0.5–0.7 GB per day (maps, Spotify, Insta stories, occasional YouTube) works out mathematically to ~15–20 GB; with a 25 % buffer we land on the 20-GB tier. For multi-country tours in the region (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos) the finder additionally suggests an Asia regional pack as an alternative.
Example 2: Family, 10 days Turkey beach holiday
Inputs: Turkey · 10 days · light user (WhatsApp, navigation, occasional Insta). Recommendation: 3 GB for 15 days, price range about €5–9. Note: the finder prefers the next standard duration (15 instead of 10 days) because most providers don't offer a 10-day option — no surcharge, you actually gain reserve time if the return flight is delayed. For 4-person families we recommend booking one eSIM per adult instead of sharing hotspot (saves battery and throttling risk).
Example 3: Business trip, 3 days USA
Inputs: USA · 3 days · mid user (email, calls via WhatsApp, hotel check-in apps). Recommendation: 1 GB for 7 days, price range about €4–8. Note: for short business trips the smaller plan often pays off — you're usually on hotel or office Wi-Fi. The finder automatically suggests a 7-day eSIM (instead of 3-day) because most US providers only start at 7 days and the price difference is below €1.
How we calculate the recommendation
The wizard is intentionally kept simple — the maths behind it isn't. Written down here so you can see how we arrive at the plan size and price range:
What if the recommendation doesn't fit?
"The recommended GB amount feels too high — can I book smaller?"
Sure. The finder suggests the safe tier — if you stay on hotel Wi-Fi and only use maps on the move, you often get by with half. Via the provider link you land on the overview of all plan tiers — just pick the one below.
"I'm travelling to multiple countries — which entry counts?"
Pick the country with the longest stay in the wizard. For two or more countries in one region (e.g. Thailand + Vietnam + Cambodia) a regional pack is almost always worth it. The regions overview shows all multi-country options at a glance.
"Does the recommendation also apply to tablets or Apple Watch?"
Only for the smartphone. Tablets often don't have their own data allocation (they share via the iPhone), and smartwatches are tied to your main plan. More on this in the device finder.
"Why does the wizard sometimes suggest a longer duration?"
Because many providers don't offer an exact-fit duration. Example: you travel for 8 days, but Airalo offers 7 or 15 days — we pick 15, you lose nothing (other than a few cents) and have reserve. If price matters more than duration, you can manually pick the shorter tier on the provider page.
"My destination isn't in the list — what do I do?"
The finder includes the 16 most popular destinations. For the rest we recommend the direct country overview — there you'll currently find all listed countries with all available providers and plans.
